The ISTQB® Foundation Level Automotive Software Tester qualification is aimed at people who have already achieved Foundation level certification in their careers in software testing and wish to develop further their expertise in Automotive Software Testing.

Carmakers and suppliers are launching new car models more frequently than in the past and under increasing cost pressure.  As the delivery objectives of time, cost and quality are competing carmakers and suppliers must strive for a more efficient system development, which allows for shorter development times despite increasing complexity, increasing quality requirements and smaller budgets.

Value for Organisation

  • Ensure that the relevant automotive standards (Automotive SPICE®, ISO 26262, etc.) are implemented within the testing process
  • Apply the virtual test methods (e.g. Model in the Loop (MiL), Software in the Loop (SiL), Hardware in the Loop (HiL), Open-Loop-System, Closed-Loop-System.) in test environments
  • Testing of functional safety in E/E systems according to ISO26262

Value for Candidate

  • Adapt the test techniques learnt from the ISTQB® Certified Tester Foundation Level (CTFL) to the specific automotive requirements and standards, ASPICE, ISO26262 and AUTOSAR
  • Be able to recall the six generic phases in the system life cycle per ISO/IEC 24748-1
  • Design a verification strategy (in contrast to a test strategy) and criteria for unit verification from ASPICE
  • Create test cases to achieve modified condition/decision testing coverage, use back-to-back testing and coding standards
