The ANZTB aims to develop qualifications the industry can rely upon.
We work within an International body called ISTQB to develop an international qualification scheme called "ISTQB Certified Tester". The qualifications are based on a syllabus, and there is a hierarchy of qualifications and guidelines for accreditation and examination.
The contents of each syllabus are taught as courses by training providers, which have been accredited by us. They are globally marketed under the brand name "ISTQB Certified Tester".
Each course is concluded by an examination covering the contents of the syllabus. After the examination, each successful participant receives the "ANZTB / ISTQB Certified Tester" certificate.
The accreditation process and certification are regulated by accreditation and certification regulations of the ANZTB board.
Exam and accreditation fees are charged to cover the cost connected with the administration of exams, applications for accreditation, the activities relating to accreditation and governance. The organisation runs on a not for profit basis.

A candidate who holds an ANZTB-recognised certificate has demonstrated their ability to perform software testing that delivers a reliable outcome. We offer a graduated hierarchy of qualifications that enable you to select staff appropriate to the role you are hiring for. Someone with a Foundation certificate has both the theory and practical exposure they need to succeed in a software tester’s role. A candidate offering a Advanced Certificate has proven their ability to effectively plan, strategise and manage testing activity.
ANZTB’s certification management must be effective so that candidates and employers can have confidence that the certificate represents the achievement it claims.
A qualification that few can afford, that presupposes Einsteinium intellectual prowess, or that requires years of study and practice is not achievable in modern industry. Our qualifications can be achieved in realistic time-frames, are supported by affordable training courses, and can be successfully completed by people with the intellectual and personal attributes that enable them to succeed in a testing career.
