ANZTB Board Members



Anne Carter: Board Member

Anne is an ISTQB® Advanced Level test professional with more than 15 years of experience across the areas of test consulting, test management, quality assurance and continuous improvement.

Anne has a strong track record of working with the business to establish organisational testing practices and drive continuous improvements across the lifecycle.  She has extensive experience and highly developed skills in System, Integration, Regression, Automation and User Acceptance Testing of software deliverables.  Anne also has a proven ability to build positive stakeholder relationships, delivering an exceptional level of customer experience with a broad range of key internal and external stakeholders.

Since 2012, Anne has been facilitating the Adelaide branch meetings of the Special Interest Group in Software Testing on behalf of the ANZTB. She is currently employed as a Principal Consultant with AccessHQ.

David Fuller: Treasurer

David FullerDavid has over 20 years’ experience in delivering practical testing solutions to clients in the Financial Services industry, with a focus on the promotion of best practice Testing techniques and tools across the Software Development Lifecycle.

David is currently Portfolio Test Manager (for Online & Mobility) for the Westpac Banking Group. He strongly believes in the promotion of Testing as a career and has hands-on experience with quality standards including ISO 9000, 9126 and CMMI.

Graeme Mackenzie: Board Member

Graeme has been managing software testing for over 20 years, typically at a strategic or organisational level.  He is currently a Testing Director with HPE New Zealand.

Graeme has held strategic management roles in a variety of organisations and industries including telecommunications, finance, fishing, oil and government. He also has considerable experience in managing remote teams including teams spread around the world.

Graeme is a founding board member of ANZTB and is currently the ANZTB representative at ISTQB, as well as Exam Vice Chair.  He is a past Chair of the ISTQB® Exam Working Party which drives ISTQB® exams globally.

He currently holds ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Manager and ISTQB® Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Analyst and is based in Wellington, New Zealand.

Ian Ross: Chair

Ian RossIan has worked for both small boutique organisations, government agencies and large multinationals which gives him a unique perspective on the application of testing in differing environments, as well as experience in catering to a large range of customers. Ian is currently employed as the Chief Technical Officer of Hedgebook.

Ian is active in the testing community and has presented papers at various conferences and speaking venues where he has discussed Web Service Testing, Security, and Agile techniques. Ian has a fluent and relaxed speaking manner which enhances the audiences’ ability to become involved in his presentations.

Ian has been part of ANZTB since 2008, and is involved in the development and review of the exams that ANZTB provides at the Advanced Level. Ian is currently establishing a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in Christchurch to assist with the development of more exam questions. Ian brings the full weight of his professional knowledge to the board providing a vital industry representation.

Ian has the achieved ISTQB® CTFL, ISTQB® CTAL–TA and ISTQB® CTAL-TM certifications. Ian is also a certified Professional Scrum Developer (PSD) and a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).

Leanne Howard: Board Member

Leanne currently works as an Agile Practices Consultant with Planit Test Management Solutions.  She has been in the testing industry for more than 20 years, both in Australia and the UK, working in many domains and diverse programmes.  She is keen to mentor and share her experiences through education for test professionals.  Leanne takes a practical approach to testing, using all of her skills and competencies, selecting from her vast “toolkit” of techniques to fit the context in which she works.  Leanne is focused on delivering the highest quality to her stakeholders within the boundaries of the project.  She has extensive knowledge of Agile methodologies, she is a certified Scrum Master and has been a speaker at global testing industry conferences.  She is also a keen author of whitepapers and articles for various magazines.

Leanne has authored Advanced Test Analyst and Test Manager training courses plus ISQTB guidelines and has been instrumental in setting up the SIGiST Sydney (Special Interest Group in Software Testing).  She is a Senior Certified Professional member of Australian Computer Society, a member of the Scrum Alliance and Standards Australia Committees.  Leanne’s also on ISTQB® Expert syllabus review panels and has written a large number of the Advanced level examination questions for ANZTB.  She is herself a certified Advanced Level Test Analyst, Advanced Level Test Manager and a Foundation Level Agile Tester.  Leanne was also recognised by her peers through the iAward ICT Woman of the Year 2014.

Marie Walsh: Vice Chair

Marie is a Senior Program Test Manager with over 19 years’ experience in IT. Currently an independent contractor, she has worked on high profile projects for organisations including Microsoft, Suncorp, CSIRO, Centrelink, and the Queensland Police Service.

During her career, Marie has worked as a Technical Tester, Test Automation Specialist, Business and Systems Analyst, Test Manager, Release and Implementation Manager, Change Manager and Problem Manager. Her experience spans many industry sectors, including finance, telecommunications, health, and government, and a range of technologies, methodologies and disciplines.

Marie’s career focus is on the testing discipline, and her diverse roles have provided her with a solid understanding of the importance of testing within IT project lifecycles.

Marie is a keen advocate of testing, and regularly attends IT community group meetings to grow professionally and to promote the benefits of testing. Her passion is to improve the image of testing, and to work with teams to build testing processes that are flexible, adaptable, and effective in improving software quality.

Marie is based in Brisbane, Australia.

Sarah Benstead: Board Member

Sarah is certified in ISTQB® Expert Test Manager (CTEL-TM-Full) with over ten years’ testing experience, obtained from working in both Australia and the United Kingdom. She is proficient in a wide range of software testing methodologies and possesses in-depth knowledge of test management processes, test strategies and incident management. Her experience has been gained through working on diverse projects in domains that include emergency services, control rooms, banking, and finance.

She has overseen local and offshore projects and believes that team building and a fostering a sense of belonging are crucial for team success. As a strong advocate of mentoring, she provides coaching, support and assistance to her team to inspire them to take ownership of their tasks.

Sarah has always had a passion for testing and hopes her enthusiasm will encourage others to continue with their own professional development and further develop the field. In her current role she is the Quality Assurance Manager at the Insurance Commission of Western Australia.

Stanley Johannes: Board Member

Stanley is an ISTQB® certified Advanced Test Analyst and a certified Professional Scrum Master. His experience spans a diverse range of industries including travel, musical instrument production, consulting and insurance. He has worked on various sized projects, using both traditional methodologies and Agile.

Stanley is passionate about improving the value of testing to the IT industry, the increasing inclusion of testing courses in the education sector, and the promotion of testing as a professional career choice.

Currently Stanley contributes to the testing community in Christchurch through the Test Professional Network and by mentoring junior test analysts.

Veronica Belcher: Board Member

Veronica is an ISTQB® Foundation Level experienced test analyst.  She has worked across the government, mining and insurance sectors since 2001 in varied roles from Test Analyst, Test Lead, Test Coordinator and Test Manager. She is passionate about testing and the ongoing promotion of the value of testing within business communities. She has experience in v-model, waterfall and agile technologies and has worked on a number of large and small scale projects throughout her career.

Mentoring less experienced testers and sharing knowledge is the cornerstone to Veronica's approach to testing, ensuring testers maintain a quality focus at all times.

She regularly assists with SIGiST's in Brisbane and is on hand to assist in any other ways to promote the software testing profession.
