ANZTB Board Members

 

Carol Cornelius:  Board Member & Exam Panel

Carol has worked in IT for over 20 years and in the Testing profession for almost 10 of those. Carol comes from a development and Project Management background which have stood her in good stead for her testing roles which have focused on managing and directing the testing services within organisations. She is currently the IT Capability Manager responsible for testing at the Inland Revenue in New Zealand.

Carol has been working on the ANZTB Exam Technical Advisory Group since 2008 and is a member of the ISTQB Exam Working Group. She has presented at conferences and professional networks in NZ and Australia.

Carol holds the ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing and a Distinction in the ISEB Software Testing Practitioner.
 

Chris Carter: Board Member

Chris CarterChris Carter is the Managing Director of Planit, an independent testing consultancy with over 250 staff offering testing solutions and training throughout Australia and New Zealand. He is a well-known expert in the field of software testing, with over 20 years' experience in delivering practical testing solutions to clients in Australia, Asia, UK, Europe and USA.

Chris is the founding Chairman of the ANZTB, has served on the ISTQB Executive as Secretary (2007–2009) and since March 2009 has been Vice President.

 

David Fuller: Treasurer & Technical Support

David FullerDavid has over 12 years experience in delivering practical testing solutions to clients in the Financial Services industry, with a focus on the promotion of best practice Testing techniques and tools across the Software Development Lifecycle.

David is currently Portfolio Test Manager within BT Financial Group. He strongly believes in the promotion of Testing as a career and has hands-on experience with quality standards including ISO 9000, 9126 and CMMI.

 

David Hayman: Chairman

David’s IT experience extends over some 26 years and includes time spent as a programmer, systems analyst and project manager. The last 22 years has been focused on software testing which has provided significant experience in all aspects of the testing practice, its processes, methods, theories and practical applications.

David uses that long and varied practical experience to provide a range of testing solutions to clients across business areas including banking, insurance, government [local and central], utilities, finance, telecoms and software development across New Zealand, Australia, UK and Europe.

He is a frequent and thought provoking speaker at testing and management conferences around the globe. He is an accredited trainer of the ISTQB Foundation, Advanced Test Analyst and Advanced Test Manager certification courses and has been a member of the ANZTB Board since 2008.

David has recently taken up a new role as the QA Practice Manager for Vodafone NZ based in Auckland.

 

Graeme Mackenzie: Examination Chair

Graeme has been managing software testing for over 15 years, typically at a strategic or organisational level.  Graeme is currently a Testing Capability Leader with HP New Zealand.

Graeme has held strategic management roles in a variety of organisations and industries including telecommunications, finance, fishing, oil and government. Graeme also has considerable experience in managing remote teams including teams spread right around the world.

Graeme is a founding board member of ANZTB and is currently the chair of the ANZTB Exam Group.  He is also the Chair of the ISTQB Exam Working Party which drives the levels of ISTQB exams globally.

Graeme currently holds ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Manager and ISTQB Certified Tester Advanced Level Test Analyst.  Graeme is based in Wellington, New Zealand.  

 

Ian Ross: Governance Chair

Ian RossIan is a test consultant with a Clarus in Christchurch, where he focuses on testing in an agile environment and testing management. Ian has been in testing for over 10 years, this is enhanced by his background in development and Quality Assurance. Ian is based in Christchurch but travels throughout Australia and New Zealand as part of his work.

Ian has worked for both small boutique organisations and large multinationals which gives him a unique perspective on the application of testing in various commercial environments and catering to a large range of customer types from small bespoke applications through to enterprise/government level applications.

Ian is active in the testing community and has presented papers at various conferences and speaking venues where he has discussed Web Service Testing, Security, and Agile techniques. Ian has a fluent and relaxed speaking manner which enhances the audiences’ ability to become involved in his presentations. Ian is a founding committee member for the Christchurch Chapter of the Agile Professional Network (APN) and through this role Ian organises speakers, venue, logistics associated with local events.

Ian has been part of ANZTB since 2008, and is involved in the development and review of the exams that ANZTB provides at the Advanced Level. Ian is currently establishing a Technical Advisory Group (TAG) in Christchurch to assist with the development of more exam questions. Ian brings the full weight of his professional knowledge to the board providing a vital industry representation.

Ian has the achieved ISTQB Foundation (CTFL), Advanced Test Analyst (CTAL – TA), Advanced Test Manager (CTAL – TM) Certifications. Ian is also a Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO).

Steve Toms: Vice Chair & Training Provider Liaison Officer

Steve TomsCurrently a Test Consultant at Cognizant, Steve has worked in Software Development for 19 years since graduating in IT. His experience as a developer in the defence industry was a solid foundation for his subsequent testing roles. Steve has had many key roles, including Performance Testing for the Sydney Olympics, as well as roles with major financial institutions; his previous role was as a Test Consultant for Compuware.

Steve is the Australia / New Zealand member of the ISTQB worldwide Expert Working group, the ANZTB Vice Chair and has also contributed to the ISTQB examinations. The ISTQB Expert Working party is currently developing the next level of the ISTQB certification programme.

Steve holds the ISEB / ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing. Steve is located in Sydney.

Thomas McCoy: Marketing & Publicity

Thomas has worked in the IT industry for more than two decades, with much of this time being spent as a software developer and IT manager at Australian government agencies. Wanting to make a greater contribution to software quality, he re-oriented his career into the emerging discipline of software testing after Y2K, and has been an enthusiastic promoter of the profession ever since.

As a former teacher, he is passionate about the need for ongoing education of testing professionals, and regards the ISTQB certifications as a valuable contributor to the growing maturity and recognition of the testing discipline.

He has spoken at many conferences in Australia and overseas, served on program committees, delivered keynotes at STAR West 2010 in San Diego, and ANZTB Test 2010 in Melbourne, and was awarded best presentation at AsiaSTAR 2004 and ANZTB Test 2009.

Outside his IT career, Thomas has worked in the media industry as a freelance journalist, commercial radio announcer, and public relations specialist.

Thomas holds the ISTQB Foundation Certificate in Software Testing, as well as degrees and diplomas in computer science, journalism, and education. He is a member of the ISTQB Marketing Working Group and based in Canberra.
