Accrediation

Accreditation means that a Training Provider has fulfilled the requirements of the ANZTB to deliver ISTQB certified courses.

Training companies that offer ISTQB compliant courses must pass an accreditation process that is designed to ensure that:

     • training materials complying with the relevant syllabus,
     • trainers have relevant software testing and training experience and skills,
     • organisations have access to facilities being adequate for performing training.

Accredited courses and trainers are more likely to provide students with the right training to pass the ISTQB examination.

The ANZTB welcomes applications and provides support to succeed as an accredited training provider.

The ANZTB has an Accreditation Chair dedicated to the task of Accreditation and an Accreditation panel which is a working party within the board responsible for accreditations.

The ANZTB assists with certification of candidates by accrediting qualified training providers and their courses that support the ISTQB software testing certification.

Other factors, such as experience in training of software professionals and experience in testing, the provision of adequate facilities, and documentation of quality assurance procedures within the applicant's company, also influence the ANZTB's decision on accreditation.

ANZTB Accreditation pertains to three levels:

  • Company
  • Course
  • Trainer

Organisations who achieve Accreditation status across all three levels enjoy the following benefits:

  • Accredited training providers are authorised to display the ANZTB and ISTQB logo and advertise themselves and their courseware as Accredited.
  • The ANZTB's website will display an up-to-date list of accredited training providers including logos and links.
  • The ANZTB supports the marketing of courses as taught by the Accredited Training Providers.
  • Take advantage of the significant client base who strive to become ISTQB certified. The ANZTB currently attracts 1000+ exam candidates per year.
  • Book ANZTB invigilators for exams held at the end of their training courses.
  • Be kept up-to-date with respect to developments in Software Testing through regular communications from the ANZTB.
  • Know that the ANZTB will direct potential client enquiries to Accredited training providers.
  • Have access to the ANZTB Training Provider Liaison Officer.

Accreditation details as follows:

Accreditation across all levels is valid for a three year term after which renewals must be taken out.

Company - initial $2,500, renewal $1,500

All Training Providers must be accredited as training providers.

Course - initial $2,500, renewal $1,500

These fees apply per course (e.g. ISTQB Foundation, ATM, ATA, ATTA)

Companies seeking course accreditation must submit their materials, slides and exercises to the ANZTB for review and appraisal.

Training providers must use accredited material. The ANZTB is one of approximately 40 ISTQB National Boards worldwide. If a training company has courseware which is already licensed by another National board (e.g. UKTB, ASTQB) then ANZTB will recognise this Accreditation and no courseware accreditation fee needs be paid to the ANZTB. Documentary evidence must be cited by the Accreditation team. (This is common for organisation who re-license materials from another organisation).

If a Training Provider's courseware fails accreditation and they resubmit their materials, they will be charged a further $500 for re-assessment

Trainer - No charge

Trainers seeking accreditation must submit evidence to the ANZTB of their:

Qualification in the course they plan to teach

Experience of software testing covering the areas they plan to teach

Competency of their ability to delivery training, build rapport, communicate to groups to impart learning.

An organisation who provides training and also prepares their own materials for submission must expect to pay the licence fee and the training material accreditation fee.

If any syllabus changes in a medium to major way then minimal reaccreditation fees may be charged. An organisation who fails to maintain their Company or Courseware, Accreditation status will be removed from the ANZTB website after two months. The ANZTB will notify organisations of their need to renew prior to the renewal date.

Training Providers Seeking Accreditation

Training providers wishing to offer accredited training leading to an ANZTB/ISTQB certificate must submit an application for accreditation to the ANZTB Accreditation Chair.

Full details of the Accreditation Process is available in the ANZTB Accreditation Process document which may be downloaded below.

All items submitted to the ANZTB will be retained by ANZTB and held in confidence.

Materials may be submitted in hard or softcopy.  Materials should include:

  • Slide-deck
  • Student Manual and exercises
  • Trainer instructor notes
  • Course timetable showing the duration of each topic
  • A xreference showing where each syllabus learning objective is covered in their slides and manual.  A blank x-reference grid containing all the syllabus requirements may be obtained from the ANZTB on request.

Re-Accreditation

Re-Accreditation may be triggered in the following events:

  • Expiry of the three year term.  In this case Re-Accreditation will be charged at the current Re-Accreditation rate. The Training Provider must provide an up to date copy of their materials to the ANZTB.
  • Should the Training Provider make changes to the course-wear (except minor cosmetic modifications) they must resubmit the materials for Re-Accreditation.  This will be charged at the normal re-accreditation rate.
  • The need for reaccreditation may be triggered by a new version of the syllabus.  Should this occur Training Providers will be contacted prior to the new syllabus release and given guidance as to process and timings.  Re-accreditation resulting from a change of the syllabus may be charged at a reduced fee.

If a Training Provider’s Accreditation lapses the organisation shall be treated as an initial applicant and charged accordingly.
